Haitian Lalo is a mouthwatering, savory, stew made with Jute leaves and spinach. It is the perfect vegan make-ahead meal that’s beyond flavorful! Our easy recipe for Lalo or jute leaves, prepared in the instant pot, and cooks in about 45 minutes.

STEP 1:
Clean the meat with the juice of half a lime.

STEP 2:
Season with black pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, parsley, chicken bouillon cubes.

STEP 3:
Transfer the meat onto a saucepan over high heat.

STEP 4:
Add 2 quarts of water.

STEP 5:
Using the same saucepan, add one can of tomato paste. Stir in onions and bell peppers. Saute over high heat.

STEP 6:
Reduce heat to medium-high. Add in 6 cups of water, the jute leaves (lalo), and chopped spinach. Stir in rosemary, thyme, parsley. Let it cook for 20-30 mins.

STEP 7:
Serve with white rice. Enjoy!

it wasn't clean properly it had lots of sticks in it.

I'd prefer the lalo fresh but we'll see what it taste like.

I didn't expect to find these on Etsy because they are HARD to find and people have to grow them. Thank God I'm able to find them here and i didn't have any trouble making the Diri Djon Djon. My family enjoyed it and I'm hoping to buy some again🙏🏾💗
